Most recently I have done. The latter is a style of work that I am particularly keen to learn more about, and think I could gain a lot from studying this in an academic context.

I believe spending time abroad in the _____ will further my knowledge and understanding of the intricacies of _____ culture. As well as improving my writing ability generally, I would hope to gain a far better understanding of the context of each subject, with the aim that this would add texture to any written work I produce in future.

I would also value the opportunity to get a sense of _____ as a place to study and work, as it has always been a goal of mine to spend an extended period of time living in the ____, and I would be excited to begin formulating the next steps here.

Having never travelled abroad, this international program is also a perfect opportunity to broaden my horizons and meet people with differing life experiences
